1. The Challenge: High Tooling Costs for Medium-Volume Production
A prominent compressor manufacturer based in Mexico was developing a new, highly efficient motor for their commercial compressor line. To maintain competitive pricing in the North American market, they needed to strictly control their manufacturing costs.
During an international manufacturing trade show, their procurement and engineering team visited our booth. They expressed a common industry pain point: they required extremely precise stator laminations, but their initial production volume did not justify the heavy investment required to build a multi-station tungsten carbide progressive die. 3. Precision Production & Quality Control
Upon the client’s approval of the laser cutting strategy, we initiated the OEM production run. We utilized premium cold-rolled non-oriented (CRNGO) silicon steel to ensure minimal core loss.
Our state-of-the-art fiber laser cutting centers sliced through the electrical steel with micro-level precision. To ensure the stators met the strict requirements of compressor motors:
- We utilized nitrogen assist gas during the cutting process to prevent edge oxidation.
- The cut laminations underwent strict visual and CMM inspections to verify slot geometry and confirm that the heat-affected zone (HAZ) was kept to an absolute minimum, ensuring zero burr interference during the final stacking process.
4. Final Delivery & Client Satisfaction
The laser-cut stator laminations were carefully packed with VCI anti-rust protection and shipped securely to the client’s facility in Mexico.
