Executive Summary
- Client: Domestic Home Appliance & Motor Manufacturer
- Location: Cambodia
- Challenge: High procurement costs for imported motor cores and a complete lack of local precision tooling manufacturers to support in-house stamping.
- Solution: A comprehensive turnkey solution providing custom motor core progressive dies, along with a full lifecycle maintenance package of interchangeable spare parts.
- Result: Successfully enabled the client to launch their own in-house lamination stamping line, significantly reducing long-term supply chain costs.
1. The Challenge: Transitioning to In-House Core Stamping
A well-known home appliance manufacturer in Cambodia, specializing in fans and domestic appliances, was looking to optimize their supply chain. For years, they relied on importing ready-made stator and rotor cores, which severely ate into their profit margins and exposed them to logistical delays.
To dramatically lower procurement costs and increase production autonomy, the client decided to establish their own in-house lamination stamping facility. However, they faced a critical roadblock: Cambodia lacks the precision tooling infrastructure required to design and build high-speed tungsten carbide progressive dies. Furthermore, the client was deeply concerned about tooling maintenance—if a punch broke during production, waiting weeks for a replacement from overseas would paralyze their factory.
2. Our Turnkey Engineering Solution & Spare Parts Strategy
After discovering our extensive capabilities online, the Cambodian procurement team visited our facility in China. Impressed by our vertically integrated manufacturing and strict quality control, they entrusted us with the entire project from blueprint to final delivery.
To address their specific anxieties regarding cross-border maintenance, we engineered a Turnkey Tooling + Spare Parts Package:
- End-to-End Die Design (DFM): We started from scratch, analyzing their home appliance motor specifications to design a highly stable, multi-station progressive die optimized for standard cold-rolled silicon steel.
- Precision Fabrication: The die shoes were crafted from heavy-duty steel, while all critical cutting inserts and punches were machined from premium tungsten carbide using our sub-micron wire-EDM centers.
- Comprehensive Spare Parts Kit: Recognizing the client’s maintenance concerns, we manufactured and supplied a complete set of fully interchangeable spare parts alongside the main die. This included extra carbide punches, die matrices, pilot pins, and high-performance springs.
3. Trial Stamping & Rigorous Quality Assurance
Before shipping, we conducted rigorous T0 and T1 trial stamping runs on our in-house presses, simulating the exact operating conditions of the client’s Cambodian factory.
- Dimensional Accuracy: All stamped laminations were inspected using Zeiss CMMs, confirming flawless concentricity and interlocking strength.
- Interchangeability Test: Our toolmakers intentionally swapped out the active punches with the spare parts provided in the kit to guarantee 100% plug-and-play interchangeability for the client’s local maintenance crew.
4. Seamless Delivery & Supply Chain Independence
The progressive die, securely packaged alongside the organized spare parts tooling box, was safely delivered to the client’s facility in Cambodia.
Armed with our reliable tooling and the backup components necessary for immediate on-site maintenance, the Cambodian manufacturer successfully launched their in-house stamping line. They eliminated their reliance on imported motor cores, drastically lowered their per-unit production cost, and gained complete control over their manufacturing schedule.
“Bringing our stamping in-house was a daunting task without local tooling support. Their team not only provided a world-class progressive die but also the exact spare parts and technical guidance we needed to run our presses with absolute confidence.” — Plant Manager, Cambodian Home Appliance Factory
